IAN GILLAN BAND "Before The Turbulence" On June 29, 1973, at the end of another triumphant tour of Japan Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan quit one of the - at the time - most successful rock bands on the planet. He formed his Ian Gillan Band in 1975. Though shades of Deep Purple remained, he made an effort to introduce a broader dimension to his music, and demonstrated this on the second Ian Gillan Band album: "Clear Air Turbulence". In essence "Before The Turbulence" contains the original version of this album, mixed at Rockfield Studios in Wales, before Gillan, who at the time was displeased with the result, took it back to London for a remix job, prior to releasing it in April 1977. |
